Adding Musical Letters

As we’ve been working on Tune Hopper gameplay for the past few months, our testers have provided valuable feedback and even suggested improvements in gameplay design.  One of these “Glowing Musical Letters” was so crucial that we decided to add it as a feature before initial release.

Benefits of Musical Letters:

•    Piano key letters inspired a similar game board design
•    Musical Alphabet fits like a scale on game sound tiles
•    Character Greg makes understanding letters and sight-reading fun to learn
•    Pitches match letters just like a piano for correct ear training

Here’s a fun example of how our game-board teaches musical scales and ear training as kids enjoy making songs. Example: if we play the E MAJOR scale on a piano, it has the same sight-reading as seeing it on our game tiles!

But I also love how it doesn’t teach bad kinetic form. I think trying to simulate playing piano keys will encourage learners to have bad physical form. While this somewhat translates to sheet music and definite translates to good ear training!

    Good job Reuel!
